Recap of the Spring HPE NonStop User Group Meetings
NuWave was pleased to join other members of the HPE NonStop community at several user group meetings around the world this spring. Check out our slideshow of BITUG and the European NonStop HotSpot and our spring and summer events on YouTube!
Andrew Price, Greg Swedosh, Ken Scudder, and Sriharsha Narasimhan Celebrating Holi at BCD
In March, Todd Barth and Ernie Guerrera attended SunTUG down in Sunny Tampa, Florida (USA), while Andrew Price represented NuWave at BCD in India at the Park Hyatt Goa Resort. At SunTUG, Mark Pollans and Keith Moore of HPE presented the keynote speech on the vision for NonStop as part of the distributed ledger technology (DLT) ecosystem, specifically mission-critical DLT. Congratulations to Joe Revennaugh from Raymond James and Candace Manno from JPMC for winning our Amazon Echo Dots! Todd and Ernie enjoyed spending time with our customers and partners at the cocktail hour, as well as at the golf outing the following day. SunTUG is always a great event, so thank you to the organizers for all of your hard work!
At BCD, Randy Meyer, HPE VP & GM of Mission Critical Systems, presented the keynote speech on the first day, and also presented on the NonStop track about the latest NonStop announcements, including VMware support for virtualized NonStop, which became official later that month. Andrew of course presented on NuWave's latest solutions and use cases, but he most enjoyed a user presentation from the CIO of HDFC, Munish Mittal, on their use of APIs and API gateways, which allows them to ingrate all of their platforms and applications, as well as provide new services to their customers. This sounds familiar! Andrew also had a great time and learned a lot at the evening reception, which included a celebration of Holi, a Hindi spring festival.
In April, Vincent Guerrera attended his neighborhood user group meeting, SCTUG (Southern California Tandem User Group), at Assurant in Santa Ana, California (USA). HPE's Justin Simonds and Joel Sigman summarized the latest NonStop innovations for anyone who had missed the NonStop Technical Boot Camp (TBC) in November, while Vince presented on how to access REST APIs from your NonStop applications. Vince also enjoyed networking with the local NonStop community at Lucille's BBQ restaurant after the event. Thanks for hosting this year's user group meeting, Assurant!
Next, we traveled to the Trinity House in London's Tower Hill for the BITUG (British Isles Tandem User Group) Big SIG event, and then it was on to the Westin Hotel in Leipzig, Germany for the European NonStop HotSpot, hosted by the GTUG (German Tandem User Group) committee.
European NonStop HotSpot, Hosted by GTUG
At the BITUG Big SIG, Barry Ross of Avanti Communications presented the keynote on the role of computing in the next generation of satellite networks (interesting stuff!) while we presented on the role of REST in the NonStop environment. We enjoyed connecting with our UK customers and partners at the event and the beer bust at the Liberty Bounds Pub the day before. Congrats to Siddharth Chaudhary at Lloyds Bank for winning our door prize, and thank you to the organizers to another classy BITUG!
The ever-passionate Randy Meyer gave the keynote at the European HotSpot, where he spoke about accelerating innovation in a hybrid IT world, the digital transformation that is taking place in the enterprise, and how HPE’s NonStop X and virtualized NonStop (vNS) will play a critical role in this transformation. Congratulations to Miroslav Vesely from First Data and James Shoebottom for winning our Amazon Echo Dots! We enjoyed catching up with you and all of our NonStop friends while surrounded by the animals of the Leipzig Zoo.
Closer to home, we enjoyed participating in the regional NENUG (New England NonStop User Group) and NYTUG (New York Tandem User Group) meetings, where Keith Moore talked about HPE’s mission critical DLT strategy and their collaboration with R3, the leader in blockchain and DLT technology, to vastly improve the scalability, transaction time, and environmental impact of DLT by rethinking several aspects of traditional blockchain. One change would be to only give ledger access to a trusted network, rather than an anonymous network, to eliminate the need for mining. This is exciting progress in the DLT space, and a promising opportunity for NonStop! At NuWave, we are looking forward to connecting to some DLT applications on NonStop and seeing where this integration will take us and our customers. HPE's Meg Watson also presented on microservices and API gateways, which was timely for the NonStop space, and right up our alley. Congratulations to Whitney Fung and Felix Pacheco of Fiserv for winning our giveaways!
What a great tour so far! We've enjoying seeing everyone, sharing the benefits of the REST with the community, and hearing about the exciting innovations that HPE is working on. We'll see you in Dallas next!
